Starbucks® Rewards Program Terms of Use
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THESE WEBSITE TERMS OF USE CAREFULLY. BY ACCESSING OR USING THIS WEBSITE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS DESCRIBED HEREIN AND ALL TERMS INCORPORATED BY REFERENCE. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ALL OF THESE TERMS, DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE.
1. General
1.1. These Terms of Use apply to your access to, and participation in, the Starbucks® Rewards program in Singapore (“Starbucks® Rewards”), which is operated by Starbucks Coffee Singapore Pte. Ltd. (“Starbucks”, “we” or “our”). These Terms of Use do not alter in any way the terms or conditions of any other agreement you may have with Starbucks for other products or services, such as Starbucks Cards.
1.2. You agree that we may provide updates, notices, disclosures and amendments to these Terms of Use, and other information relating to the Starbucks® Rewards program by electronic means, including posting such information and materials online at https://www.starbucks.com.sg/ (“Starbucks Website”).
2. Change to Terms
2.1. Starbucks reserves the right to change or modify these Terms of Use or any policy, FAQ, or guideline pertaining to Starbucks® Rewards, in whole or in part, at any time and in its sole discretion. Any changes or modifications will be effective immediately and may be posted on the Starbucks Website so please check back from time to time. Your continued access to or participation in Starbucks® Rewards following any such changes or modifications confirms your acceptance of these Terms of Use and any such changes or modifications. If you do not agree to these Terms of Use, you must stop accessing and participating in Starbucks® Rewards.
3. Personal Use
3.1. Starbucks® Rewards is intended for personal use only. Commercial use is prohibited. Starbucks® Rewards is not targeted towards, nor intended for use by, anyone under the age of eighteen (18) years. If you are thirteen (13) years or older but under the age of eighteen (18) years, you should review these Terms of Use with your parent or guardian to make sure you and your parent or guardian understand and agree to these Terms of Use. Should your parent or guardian not agree to these Terms of Use, you must stop participating in Starbucks® Rewards.
3.2. Our Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms of Use and also governs your participation in Starbucks® Rewards. Please read the Privacy Policy carefully to understand how Starbucks collects, uses and discloses information about customers, how to update or change your personal information, and how we communicate with you.
4. About Starbucks® Rewards
4.1. Starbucks® Rewards is one way in which Starbucks endeavors to reward and thank loyal customers for patronizing our business and purchasing Starbucks products. Starbucks® Rewards members are able to earn and accumulate "Stars" that can be redeemed for Starbucks® Rewards benefits ("Rewards") on the Starbucks Singapore Online Store (“Online Store”), the Starbucks Singapore Mobile Application (“Mobile App”), or at participating Starbucks stores in Singapore. Kindly refer to our FAQ to check the participating Starbucks stores.
4.2. Please refer to the Online Store Terms of Service to view and understand the terms that govern your access and use of the Online Store or any purchase of our products that may be available on the Online Store.
5. Joining Starbucks® Rewards
5.1. To enroll in Starbucks® Rewards and receive program benefits, you will first need to create a Starbucks account. You can do so at the members' portal here: www.starbucks.com.sg/rewards/Login or via a Starbucks Singapore Mobile Application distributed by Starbucks in Singapore ("Mobile App"). A digital Starbucks card will be linked to your Starbucks account once you have created it. You can also register and add a Starbucks Card activated in Singapore to your account. Starbucks Card activated in Singapore may include physical Starbucks branded cards that are available and activated in participating Starbucks stores in Singapore as well as digital forms of the cards that are available and activated through the Mobile App or our Starbucks Website, including Starbucks Cards eGift.
5.2. In these Terms of Use, “activation” means that you have loaded a minimum of S$10 onto your Starbucks Card for the first time. You can register any Starbucks Card activated in Singapore to your Starbucks Card account. The term “Starbucks Card” refers to a Starbucks Card that may be activated in Singapore only, and the term “registered Starbucks Card” refers to a Starbucks Card that has been activated in Singapore and registered to your Starbucks Card account at www.starbucks.com.sg/rewards/Login or through the Mobile App. All Starbucks Cards are subject to the Starbucks Card Account Terms of Use and Agreement which are incorporated into these Terms of Use.
5.3. The Starbucks Card registration process may require that you provide certain personal information using the online registration form, including: password, email address, Starbucks Card number, and card security code (CSC), birthday, name, physical address, mobile number, and marketing preferences. All of your Starbucks Cards activated in Singapore can be registered for use in Starbucks® Rewards under these Terms of Use, but you may only have one (1) account personal to you.
6. Levels
6.1. There are two (2) levels of benefits in Starbucks® Rewards which are determined by the number of Stars that you accumulate in your account – Green level and Gold level. By opening an account, and activating and registering a Starbucks Card, you will be automatically enrolled in Starbucks Rewards at the Green level.
6.2. If you earn at least three hundred (300) Stars within the twelve (12)-month period following your enrolment date, you will qualify for the Gold level.
6.3. To maintain the Gold level, you must earn at least three hundred (300) new Stars during each consecutive twelve (12)-month period following the date you reached the Gold level. If you do not earn three hundred (300) Stars in twelve (12) months, you will be placed at the Green level of Starbucks® Rewards after your Anniversary Date.
6.4. Once you reach a specific level within Starbucks® Rewards, you will receive the benefits that are applicable to that level only.
7. Earning Stars
7.1. The benefits that are available to you through Starbucks® Rewards program are based on the number of “Stars” that you earn.
7.2 You can earn Stars by:
- Making purchases and payments with Starbucks Cards: You use a Starbucks Card which has been activated and registered to your Starbucks Rewards® account to pay for your purchases at any Starbucks store, or to pay for purchases made through the In-App Delivery and the Mobile Order and Pay functions of the Mobile App or the Online Store.
The spending you make when paying with a Starbucks Card, directly at a Starbucks store or through the In-App Delivery and the Mobile Order and Pay functions of the Mobile App or the Online Store, will be automatically converted into Stars and credited to your Starbucks® Rewards account right after such payment is completed.
Please note that your spending when paying with a Starbucks Card at Starbucks stores will only be converted into Stars and accumulated into your Starbucks®
Rewards account if you present your relevant registered Starbucks Card or barcode on the Mobile App for scanning by the Starbucks’s staff before making payment, in order for our system to identify the Starbucks® Rewards account. If you fail to present your relevant registered Starbucks Card or barcode on the Mobile App before making payment, then we will not be able to identify your Starbucks® Rewards account for conversion and Stars accumulation. In this case, after your payment is completed, we will not be able to assist you to re-accumulate Stars into your Starbucks® Rewards account since our system cannot return to the account identification step.
- Making purchases and payments in cash, debit card, credit cards or via e-wallets ("Point of Sale” or “POS”): You purchase and pay for items directly at Starbucks stores using cash, e-wallets and/or payment methods via POS devices such as bank cards (including but not limited to VISA, MASTERCARD, JCB, etc.) for the purpose of earning Stars under the Starbucks® Rewards.
The spending you make when paying for Starbucks items using cash, e-wallets and methods via POS devices will be automatically converted into Stars and accumulated into your Starbucks® Rewards account right after such payment is completed.
Please note that you are still eligible for earning Stars when making payment for one purchase using the combination of two (2) or more payment methods, including Starbucks Card, cash, e-wallets and methods via POS devices (for example, but not limited to, paying for 50% of a purchase value in cash and for the remaining 50% by e-wallet; or paying for 50% of a purchase value by Starbucks Card and for the remaining 50% in cash, etc.).
In addition, your spending when paying in cash, by e-wallets and methods via POS devices directly at Starbucks stores will only be converted into Stars and accumulated into your Starbucks® Rewards account if you present your relevant registered Starbucks Card or barcode on the Mobile App for scanning by the Starbucks’s staff before making payment, in order for our system to identify the Starbucks® Rewards account requesting accumulation. If you fail to present your relevant registered Starbucks Card or barcode on the Mobile App before making payment, then we will not be able to identify your Starbucks® Rewards account for conversion and Stars accumulation. In this case, after your payment is completed, we will not be able to assist you to re-accumulate Stars into your Starbucks® Rewards account since our system cannot return to the account identification step.
Rules for Stars calculation based on your spending:
- Payment with Starbucks Card: The number of Stars you earn is based on the value of your purchase at the rate of one (1) Star for every one (1) Singapore dollar you paid for one purchase/order directly at Starbucks stores or via the
Mobile App or the Online Store. Please note that, in this case, Stars earning is only applicable to purchases which are 100% paid by Starbucks Card.
- Payment using cash, e-wallets, via POS devices: The number of Stars you earn is based on the value of your purchase at the rate of one (1) Star for every two (2) Singapore dollars you paid for one purchase/order directly at Starbucks stores. Please note that, in this case, Stars earning can be applicable to purchases which are 100% paid in cash, by e-wallets, via POS device, or which are paid by the combination of two (2) or more of such payment methods.
7.3 Please note that, at Starbucks’ sole discretion, Stars may be earned and awarded in fractional amounts depending on the value of each your purchase paid fully and in accordance with these Terms of Use.
7.4 No “Star” will be rewarded for the following transactions:
- Starbucks Card top-up;
- Starbucks Card activation; and
- e-Gift card purchase.
7.5 Stars for your qualifying purchases and apart those unapplicable cases above are automatically converted and added to your account at the earliest or within approximately twenty-four (24) hours after the transaction is completed.
7.6 From time to time, we, or others acting with our permission, may offer you special promotions that offer you “Promotional Stars”. Promotional Stars, such as “bonus” Stars, will be awarded as described in the applicable promotional offer and will be subject to any additional terms set forth in the promotional offer.
8. Exclusions to Earning Stars; Starbucks Singapore Online Store and Participating Stores Only
8.1. You may not earn Stars in connection with certain types of beta or promotional programs, or other forms of service recovery coupons. Stars may be earned from purchases made through the In-App Delivery and the Mobile Order and Pay functions of the Mobile App, the Online Store or at participating Starbucks stores only, and certain stores only have the ability to award Stars for Starbucks Card transactions (not for cash, credit card, debit card or mobile wallet transactions). In addition, you cannot earn Stars for certain transactions on Starbucks Cards (such as activations, reloads, transfers, and other card-to-card transactions). Taxes, tips, donations, and fees, including without limitation, shipping and handling fees, gift wrapping fees, delivery fees, and bag fees, also may be excluded and ineligible for Star accrual.
8.2. Stars may be earned at participating Starbucks stores in Singapore only, excluding stores located at Changi Airport except Jewel. You cannot earn Stars on purchases or reloading of any Starbucks Cards.
9. Returns
9.1. Your Stars balance may be impacted by returns as follows:
(a) If you void a purchase, Starbucks will deduct the Stars that you earned for that purchase, potentially resulting in a negative Star balance on your account.
10. Star Expiration
10.1. Please note that “Stars” accumulated for each level will only be valid during the twelve (12) month period from the date when you reach the particular level. For example: You create a Starbucks® Rewards account and activate your Starbucks Card on the Starbucks Website or at a participating Starbucks store on 1 July 2021 by loading S$10 onto the Starbucks Card. You register your Starbucks Card to your Starbucks Card account on 10 July 2021. You are therefore automatically enrolled into the Green Level of Starbucks Rewards on 10 July 2021 and your spending with your registered Starbucks Card will only start to earn Stars from your enrolment date. If you earn three hundred (300) Stars on 15 December 2021, you will be placed in Gold Level and entitled to Gold Level benefits and your entitlement to Gold Level Rewards will expire one (1) year from your Anniversary Date, on 14 December 2022. On 15 December 2022, your Stars balance will revert to zero. However, if you have accumulated three hundred (300) Stars between 15 December 2021 to 14 December 2022 earning the required number of Stars to maintain your Gold Level, you will continue to qualify for Gold Level and be entitled to the various Gold Level Rewards for the 12-month period between 15 December 2022 and 14 December 2023. On 15 December 2023, your Stars balance will revert to zero.
11. Redeeming Stars for Rewards
11.1. Stars may be redeemed for complimentary Starbucks items at participating Starbucks stores in Singapore. Starbucks® Rewards offers different Rewards based on different Star redemption tiers. Note that Starbucks may adjust the items included in each tier at any time without prior notice in its sole discretion. The Star redemption tiers for redeeming Stars on the Online Store and at participating Starbucks stores in Singapore are as follows:
(a) 10 Stars may be redeemed for S$0.50 off a regular-priced handcrafted drink, except bottled drinks.
(b) 20 Stars may be redeemed for S$1.00 off a regular-priced handcrafted drink, except bottled drinks.
(c) 30 Stars may be redeemed for S$1.50 off a regular-priced handcrafted drink, except bottled drinks.
(d) 40 Stars may be redeemed for S$2.00 off a regular-priced handcrafted drink, except bottled drinks.
(e) 50 Stars may be redeemed for S$2.50 off a regular-priced handcrafted drink, except bottled drinks.
(f) 60 Stars may be redeemed for one (1) Grande-sized (and below) handcrafted drink, except bottled drinks.
(g) 100 Stars may be redeemed for S$10.00 off any handcrafted drink and/or food in a single transaction, except bottled drinks, selected promotion items, merchandise and purchase or reloading of Starbucks Card.
11.2. Applicable to Gold Level Rewards members only:
(a) 160 Stars may be redeemed for S$20.00 off any drink, food and/or merchandise in a single transaction, except selected promotion items, and purchase or reloading of Starbucks Card; OR three (3) Grande-sized (& below) handcrafted drinks in a single transaction, except bottled drinks.
12. Other Important Star Redemption Information and Exclusions
12.1. You cannot redeem multiple Star redemption tiers on a single item in a single transaction. For example, you cannot redeem 10 Stars S$0.50 off a handcrafted drink and 40 Stars for S$2.00 off for that same handcrafted drink within a single order.
12.2. You cannot redeem multiple 100 Stars for S$10.00 off any handcrafted drink and/or food and 160 Stars for S$20.00 off a single transaction within a single order.
13. Additional Benefits of Starbucks® Rewards
13.1. As a Starbucks® Rewards member, you may be eligible for the following additional benefits.
13.2. For Green Level Reward members:
(a) Birthday Reward. On your birthday (as indicated in your Starbucks® Rewards account), you will receive a complimentary cake upon your purchase of a handcrafted
beverage. You must purchase your choice of any handcrafted beverage with any of your registered Starbucks Cards in order to redeem your complimentary slice of cake. The Birthday Reward expires on the last day of your birthday month.
(b) Free handcrafted drink of any size with purchase of a Starbucks tumbler. You will receive a free drink of any size Reward in your account upon the purchase of a Starbucks regular-priced tumbler. You must purchase the tumbler with any of your registered Starbucks Card. The free drink Reward will be credited into your account within 1 hour from the purchase. The free drink Reward expires after 6 months from the date of issuance.
(c) BOGO upon 1st five Stars. One (1) Buy-One-Get-One drink reward will be credited into your account within 1 hour upon accumulation of five (5) Stars. The Buy-One-Get-One drink Reward expires after 3 months from the date of issuance.
(d) 50% off drink via Mobile Order & Pay. One (1) 50% off drink reward will be credited into your account within 1 hour upon successful registration. The 50% off drink Reward expires after 1 month from the date of issuance.
(e) 10% off regular-priced merchandise on Starbucks® Online Store. One (1) 10% off regular-priced merchandise on Starbucks® Online Store reward will be credited into your account within 1 hour upon successful registration. The 10% off regular-priced merchandise on Starbucks® Online Store Reward expires after 1 month from the date of issuance.
(f) Free delivery fee on Starbucks® Delivers. One (1) Free delivery fee on Starbucks® Delivers reward will be credited into your account within 1 hour upon successful registration. The Free delivery fee on Starbucks® Delivers Reward expires after 1 month from the date of issuance.
13.3. For Gold Level Reward members:
(a) Birthday Reward. On your birthday (as indicated in your Starbucks® Rewards account), you will (i) receive a complimentary cake upon your purchase of a handcrafted beverage. You must purchase your choice of any handcrafted beverage with any of your registered Starbucks Cards in order to redeem your complimentary slice of cake; (ii) receive a free complimentary hand-crafted beverage. You must redeem your complimentary birthday reward with any of your registered Starbucks Cards; and (iii) get Double Stars on your first purchase in your birthday month. Double Stars will be credited into your account within 1 hour from the purchase.
(b) Birthday Reward expires on the last day of your birthday month.
(c) Free beverage of any size with purchase of a Starbucks tumbler. You will receive a free drink of any size Reward in your account upon the purchase of a Starbucks regular-priced tumbler. You must purchase the tumbler with any of your registered Starbucks
Card. The free drink Reward will be credited into your account within 1 hour from the purchase. The free drink Reward expires after 6 months from the date of issuance.
(d) 10% off merchandise in-store. One (1) 10% off merchandise reward will be credited into your account within 1 hour upon successful upgrade or upon renewal of Gold Level. The 10% off on Starbucks® Online Store Reward expires after 1 month from the date of issuance.
(f) Monthly S$2 delivery fee on Starbucks® Delivers. One (1) $2 delivery fee on Starbucks® Delivers reward will be credited into your account monthly on every 1st of the month. The S$2 off delivery fee on Starbucks® Delivers Reward expires every last day of the month.
13.4. Starbucks reserves the right to change or suspend the number and type of benefits offered to members of Starbucks® Rewards in its sole discretion at any time.
14. Other Important Information You Should Know
14.1. These Terms of Use complement and incorporate by reference the Starbucks Card Account Terms of Use and Agreement. In the event of any conflict between the Starbucks Card Account Terms of Use and Agreement and Conditions and these Terms of Use, the Starbucks Card Account Terms of Use and Agreement shall take precedence.
14.2. There are no participation or membership fees associated with Starbucks® Rewards. Stars accrued in connection with Starbucks® Rewards are promotional, have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash. In addition, your redemption of Stars accrued in connection with Starbucks Rewards cannot be combined with any other offers or discounts, unless otherwise expressly indicated by Starbucks.
14.3. Your Stars, Rewards, registered Starbucks Cards, and Starbucks® Rewards account are personal to you and may not be sold, transferred or assigned to, or shared with, family, friends or others, or used by you for any commercial purpose. You may have only one (1) Starbucks Rewards account that is personal to you.
14.4. Without notice to you, Starbucks reserves the right to suspend any Starbucks Card registered to your account and/or terminate your account and/or your participation in Starbucks® Rewards if Starbucks determines, in its sole discretion, that you have violated these Terms of Use or that the use of your Starbucks® Rewards account is unauthorized, deceptive, fraudulent, unethical, or otherwise unlawful. Starbucks may, in its sole discretion, suspend, cancel or combine Starbucks® Rewards accounts that appear to be duplicative. In the event that your participation in Starbucks® Rewards is terminated, all accrued Stars in your account are void.
14.5. Without notice to you, Starbucks also reserves the right to "unregister" and make ineligible for Starbucks® Rewards any Starbucks Card or Starbucks account that has been inactive for three (3) consecutive years. Inactivity is defined as no Stars earned during such three (3) consecutive year period. In the event that your Starbucks Card or Starbucks account is unregistered or rendered inactive, all accrued Stars in your account are void.
14.6. Starbucks reserves the right to change, modify, discontinue or cancel Starbucks® Rewards or any part of the Starbucks® Rewards program, at any time and in its sole discretion, without notice to you.
15. Deletion of Starbucks® Rewards Account
15.1. You may request to delete your Starbucks® Rewards account at any time via the account deletion process provided for on the Starbucks Website or Mobile App. Please note that (a) all account deletion requests are final and irreversible once processed; and (b) upon deletion of your account, all information and benefits associated with your deleted account will not be accessible or recoverable, including your account history, Starbucks Card balance, Stars and other reward benefits.
16. Governing Law
16.1. Any dispute arising from these Terms of Use or your access to or participation in Starbucks® Rewards will be governed by and construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict of law rules or principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods shall have no applicability.
17. Severability
17.1. If any provision or part of a provision of these Terms of Use is unlawful, void or unenforceable, that provision or part of the provision is deemed severable from these Terms of Use and does not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.
